Bowen Recovery Center

The path to recovery is different for every individual, and the Bowen Center is helping hundreds of people to find their way in that process. Opening in late spring 2018, the Bowen Recovery Center will be servicing a 100 mile radius around the Fort Wayne area in order to best assist individuals suffering from opioid use disorder. The Bowen Recovery Center is an opioid treatment program utilizing a comprehensive treatment model and the medication prescribed and administered will be Methadone.

Since 2016, Bowen Center’s 11 outpatient office locations have offered Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) programs which include medications such as Suboxone, Subutex, Vivitrol, Naltrexone, Antabuse and Campral. Medication is effective when coupled with comprehensive behavioral treatment. All of these medications can be helpful in maintaining abstinence from problem substances by eliminating the desire to use and manage the withdrawal process. Bowen Center’s MAT programs offer outpatient individual and group therapy, case management and skill building services. The program continues to be successful in helping individuals navigate the addiction and recovery process.

The Bowen Recovery Center is a specialized Medication Assisted Treatment service that will utilize Methadone to assist in opioid recovery. “Methadone is an opioid medication and helps to reduce the withdrawal symptoms of those with an opioid use disorder without causing the ‘high’ associated with the drug addiction,” states Dr. Carolyn Greer, Medical Director, Bowen Recovery Center. “To help maintain recovery, we will be including counseling services within the clinic to meet all of the patient’s needs,” says Greer.

As part of their recovery process, the Bowen Recovery Center will offer individual and group outpatient counseling, and an onsite resource room as well as assistance with insurance. “We want to equip our patients with as many resources that they need in order for them to maintain recovery,” explains Kurt Carlson, President/CEO, Bowen Center.

“We will also be providing onsite medical services that will include evaluation and referral, as well as random drug testing and collaboration with all Bowen Center outpatient facilities to ensure the best quality care,” says Carlson. “Our goal is to help those with the recovery process and let them know that they have champions by their side as a person living in recovery.”

The Bowen Recovery Center is scheduled to open in late spring 2018. The facility is located at 1415 Directors Row in Fort Wayne, just off Coliseum Boulevard and is a non-profit organization and is a division of the Bowen Center. Hours will be Monday-Friday from 5:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. and Saturday/Sunday from 6:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m. A full list of Bowen Center Outpatient Office locations are located on the website.
