As flu season approaches, Matthew 25 Health and Dental Clinic is teaming up with Americares and Walgreens to host on-site flu shot clinics on Monday, September 14, 2020, and Monday, September 21, 2020. Americares, a global non-profit focused on the health of those affected by poverty or disaster, connected Matthew 25 with a local participating Walgreens pharmacy to execute the event. Walgreens is providing the vaccines and pharmacists to administer the shots.
Influenza, “flu,” is a respiratory infection that can cause serious complications, particularly for young children, older adults and people with certain medical conditions. Influenza vaccines — though not 100 percent effective — are the best way to prevent the misery of the flu and its complications. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends that everyone 6 months of age or older be vaccinated annually against influenza.
Matthew 25 welcomes the following individuals to sign up for this event: adults 18 years and older who are uninsured or under-insured and whose income falls at or below 300% of the federal poverty level. For example, an individual making $38,280 a year, or $78,600 for a family of four. You do not need to be a patient of Matthew 25 to schedule an appointment. Those with insurance should bring their insurance card. Walgreens can offer vouchers to qualified individuals who are uninsured or under-insured.
Patients should call to schedule an appointment in advance, as slots are limited: 260-426-3250 x214.
Matthew 25 Health and Dental Clinic is a 501(c)(3) organization that does not take any government monies. For more information on how you can support its community efforts, please visit http://www.matthew25online.org.
