Recovery Rocks 2020 To Be Held September 26 At Sweetwater

September is Recovery Month, and in an effort to increase awareness of help available, spread hope and end the stigma associated with mental health and substance use orders, The Mom of an Addict, Inc. is presenting Recovery Rocks FORT WAYNE 2020. This event will be held on Saturday, September 26 from 4 to 7 PM at the Sweetwater Outdoor Performance Pavilion, located at 5501 US 30 W, Fort Wayne, IN 46818.

“With the havoc that COVID has been wreaking for those dealing with a mental health diagnosis or a substance use disorder, we must host this event to let the members of our community know that help is available,” says Jennifer Hope, Founder/CEO of The Mom of an Addict, Inc. “People need hope now more than ever. We want to let them know help is out there and recovery is possible.” Hope and her son, Jake Burgess, will be on stage to illustrate their family’s real-life recovery story.

Event host Mary Collins, Fort Wayne, will inspire the audience throughout the afternoon. The speaker lineup includes Derek Laliberte, Fort Wayne, who will deliver a talk titled “I’m Drunk Right Now,” and Dr. Kevin Blankenship, Morgantown, WV, who will address “Cultivating Hope.” Laliberte is a board member for RemedyLIVE, and Blankenship is the founder of Jacob’s Ladder (featured in the Netflix documentary Recovery Boys).

Attendees will be able to connect with nearly 30 resources for help with issues surrounding mental health and substance use disorders. The list of resource tables can be found at www.themomofanaddict.org under the event tab.

Those who are in recovery are asked to help shatter the stigma by bringing their photo and/or a brief note to attach to the Wall of Hope. Those who have a loved one in recovery are encouraged to bring his/her photo as well, as long as permission has been granted. Photos and notes will not be returned.

To keep in line with Back on Track Indiana, free registration is required. The link can be found at www.themomofanaddict.org under the event tab for Recovery Rocks. Click on RSVP to attend and fill out the form for free tickets. Tickets are limited, so early registration is strongly encouraged.
