Celebrate Indiana’s Lake Michigan shoreline with during Coastal Awareness Month in June.
Lake Michigan is a source of recreation, drinking water, natural and industrial resources, and more. The 45 miles of shoreline in Indiana is the most biologically diverse in the Great Lakes region.
The Lake Michigan Coastal Program and its partners have a number of activities planned to celebrate Indiana’s Great Lakes access, including guided hikes, festivals, concerts, educational cruises aboard the W.G. Jackson research vessel, fishing derbies, farmers markets, historical tours and talks, and more. A full list of events is at cam.dnr.IN.gov.
“Coastal Awareness events in June offer an amazing variety of opportunities for fun, learning, and adventure throughout northwest Indiana,” said Kathryn Vallis, Coastal Resources planner for the DNR Lake Michigan Coastal Program. “Whatever your interests may be, there are events for you.”
