On January 19, 2019, Arts United hosts the 2019 Arts United Awards. This year, a keynote speech will be made by Patti Hays, Chief Executive Officer of AWS Foundation, featuring a special announcement and presentation from the organization.
The Arts United Awards celebrate individuals and organizations that are making significant contributions to arts and culture in Northeast Indiana. During the ceremony, Lifetime Achievement Awards will be presented to Lynne Gilmore, recently retired from AWS Foundation, and Julia Meek, radio host of WBOI’s Meet the Music and Folktales and visual artist. Hector Garcia also will receive the Mayor’s Arts Award for his 60-year career as a public sculpture artist.
Following the presentation of all awards, a unique experience within the keynote speech will demonstrate the importance of creating access to the arts for people with disabilities. AWS Foundation will also make a special announcement during this event. This will be followed by a post-event reception. The event takes place January 19, 2019 from 5:30pm to 8:00pm at the Arts United Center, 303 East Main Street, Fort Wayne, IN 46802.
