Drive-Thru Light Display To Open In Shipshewana For The Holiday Season

Shipshewana will become home to more than two million LED Christmas lights displayed in a mile-long symphony of various light scenes this holiday season. Shipshewana’s Lights of Joy, a new drive-through light display experience, will begin its inaugural season November 16 and run through December 30.

Shipshewana Trading Place and Blue Gate Hospitality have partnered with Winterland, Inc. to bring the holiday experience to town.

“Winterland, Inc. has seen great success with previous light parks across the country,” said Brian Lambright, Business Development director of Shipshewana Trading Place. “We knew Shipshewana would be a great location for this display because the town is already such a festive place for families to spend the holiday season.”

Shipshewana’s Lights of Joy will be set up on the grounds of the Shipshewana RV Park and will wind back and forth through dozens of displays. Visitors will enter at the grounds of the Shipshewana Flea Market on SR 5 and drive through the 1 mile course of Christmas light scenes, exiting onto CR 200 N.

“This is a wonderful opportunity for families to make new traditions by visiting Shipshewana’s Lights of Joy and the other activities the town has planned,” said Ryan Riegsecker, president of Blue Gate Hospitality.

The drive-through light display will be open to visitors Thursday through Sunday from Nov. 16 – Dec. 30. It will be closed November 18 and Thanksgiving Day. Hours of operation will be Thursday and Sunday, 6 p.m. – 9 p.m., and Friday and Saturday, 6 p.m. – 10 p.m. The cost is $15 per vehicle on Thursdays and Sundays and $20 per vehicle on Fridays and Saturdays. Tickets may be purchased online at ShipshewanaLightsofJoy.com or at the door.

Shipshewana’s Lights of Joy will be hosting a “local’s night” event to open up the season on Thursday, November 15. Entry will be by donation for this special local resident night where all the proceeds will go to the LaGrange County Clothes & Food Basket.
