The Fort Wayne Children’s Choir Presents Young Artists Concert

The Fort Wayne Children’s Choir (FWCC) presents the Young Artists Concert on Monday, March 19 at 7pm at the Downtown Library Auditorium. The concert will feature the Concert Choir, Youth Chorale, Chamber Singers, and select individual musicians from the featured ensembles. The theme for this year’s Young Artists Concert is “Generations.”

“Connecting to the ACPL is no coincidence,” says Jonathan Busarow, Executive Artistic Director of the FWCC. “We will sing music about cultural roots in one of the greatest genealogy libraries in the country. Music will highlight different cultures from our community, including a new work written by Dr. Geoffrey North. Dr. North is the Director of Music at First Wayne Street United Methodist Church, Director of Choirs at Trine University, accompanist for choirs at IPFW, and father of two FWCC singers.”

The Concert Choir is the most advanced, unchanged voice ensemble of the organization. This ensemble is the primary ambassador for the organization, and travels regionally, nationally, and internationally to festivals and performances representing both the Fort Wayne Children’s Choir and our great city. The Youth Chorale is comprised primarily of high school students and focuses on a breadth of repertoire, ranging from early polyphony to modern choral works. The Chamber Singers are a subset of the Youth Chorale and commit to investing extra time every week, focusing on the highest musical standards.

The Fort Wayne Children’s Choir is a music education organization that places special emphasis on music instruction, literacy, and performance. The organization provides artistic and educational excellence to children from diverse backgrounds. This concert is part of our goal to contribute to the community’s cultural environment by providing opportunities to experience professionally trained voices.

Busarow, along with Tavis Schlicker, Director of the Youth Chorale, will be preparing all of the ensembles for this concert. “These ensembles are comprised of seasoned members, many of which have spent several years in the Children’s Choir,” Busarow says. “They are a well-prepared and special group of musicians who will give an extraordinary concert.”

The concert begins at 7 pm in Auditorium at the Allen County Public Library’s downtown branch. Tickets are available through the IPFW ticket office in Gates Athletic Center, 260.481.6555,12:30 – 6:30 pm, or online.
