Northrop and North Side high schools and Portage Middle School are participating in a Jeans for Teens drive to collect jeans for homeless teens. Jeans are the most-often requested item by homeless teens because they are durable and provide a sense of normalcy.
The project is part of DoSomething.org, a national organization for young people interested in social change. Participating schools have a chance to win up to $3,000, and student participants can win a $5,000 scholarship. The drive at each school is already under way and will wrap up later this month. Northrop will collect jeans through Feb. 19. North Side and Portage will collect jeans through Feb. 26. Donations of new or gently used jeans can be dropped off at:
