$500,000 Given For New Campus Welcome Center

A $500,000 lead donation has been given to Huntington University by a generous trustee and will be allocated to start the construction of a new campus Welcome Center.

“For this donor, this is the largest gift they have ever made to HU and nearly doubles their lifetime giving,” said Vince Haupert, vice president for Advancement. “Gifts of a lifetime like this often inspire others to also give sacrificially and set an example of generosity that should impact all of us to think more of others than ourselves.”

The 3,000-square-foot addition will be part of the Merillat Centre for the Arts and will house the university’s admissions office, support services and meeting spaces, and will feature state-of-the-art teleconferencing technology. The admissions office is currently located in the lower-level of Livingston Residence Hall.

“The development of the new Welcome Center will transform the work of the Admissions team,” said Daniel Solms, vice president of Enrollment Management & Marketing. “The new space will be focused on our visitors and their experience while they are on campus, helping us to better connect as we share the legacy of Huntington University.”

HU is scheduled to break ground in May, and the project should be completed by late fall. The total cost for the new Welcome Center is $700,000. This will be Huntington University’s third capital construction project of $500,000 or more completed since 2013.

Huntington University is a comprehensive Christian college of the liberal arts offering graduate and undergraduate programs in more than 70 academic concentrations.
