ABOUT LAST NIGHT: The TinCaps avoided being swept at Fifth Third Ballpark as they beat the West Michigan Whitecaps, 4-1.

HOT AT HOME: The TinCaps have won four consecutive series at Parkview Field.

PLAYOFF PICTURE: The TinCaps, along with West Michigan and South Bend, have been eliminated from the first-half Eastern Division playoff chase. However, Fort Wayne has a chance to play spoiler this weekend. While Lansing has clinched one of the two playoff bids, the other remains on the line.

WISLER MAKING MLB DEBUT: Former TinCaps pitcher Matt Wisler is starting for the Braves tonight at Turner Field as Atlanta hosts the New York Mets. The 22-year-old from Bryan, Ohio (about one hour away from Parkview Field), was called up Friday from the Triple-A Gwinnett Braves. After passing on a scholarship to Ohio State, Wisler was selected by the Padres in the 7th round of the 2011 MLB Draft. In his first full pro season in 2012 with the TinCaps, Wisler started 23 games and had the league’s third lowest ERA, 2.53. On Aug. 27, 2014, the TinCaps hosted a Matt Wisler Bobblehead Night. He returned to Parkview Field in Sept. to sign autographs for fans.
