ABOUT LAST NIGHT: The TinCaps had superb pitching on Thursday night at Parkview Field, but came away with a pair of 1-run losses against the Great Lakes Loons in a doubleheader. Fort Wayne fell 1-0 in the front-end and 2-1 in the finale.
ROSTER MOVE: The Padres have reinstated right-hander Dinelson Lamet to the Fort Wayne roster after he went on the Disabled List on May 20. With the return of Lamet as he starts tonight, left-hander Taylor Cox has been sent back to Extended Spring Training.
MAKING MOVES: In the month of April, the Padres only made 1 change to Fort Wayne’s roster (adding infielder Nick Vilter when Josh VanMeter went on the Disabled List). In May, San Diego has brought 9 new faces to the TinCaps.
STARTING STRONG: During their five-game series with Great Lakes (in which they went 3-2), TinCaps starting pitchers worked 28 innings and allowed only 5 earned runs. That equates to a 1.61 ERA. In Game 1 Thursday, Chris Huffman gave up only 1 unearned run in 6 1/3 innings. Then in Game 2, Jose Castillo tossed 5 scoreless.
LEGO NIGHT: TinCaps are wearing special LEGO-themed jerseys which are being auctioned off in the ballpark and online at TinCapsJerseys.com. Proceeds from the auction will benefit Little People Matter, a non-profit organization that raises money for the 4,000 children in the world who die each day due to a lack of access to clean water.
