Through the generosity of the AWS Foundation, Science Central will present Special Abilities Day on Tuesday, May 5, 2015. The popular science center will welcome visitors by providing a variety of activities and programming designed to stimulate and enhance learning for those with special abilities. Visitors will engage in special tactile activities such as "Mystery Shapes," making Glacial Gak, and Scent Smelling Stations. Science Central will provide more ambient lighting in Science On a Sphere, and will provide virtual tours of the solar system with 3-dimensional and Braille materials. Listening assistance devices for hearing-challenged individuals will also be available. This special day will accommodate those with mental, physical or emotional challenges. Funding for the day was provided by the AWS Foundation. "We are grateful to the AWS Foundation for supporting Special Abilities Day once again this year. Through this specialized program, we can engage persons with disabilities with programming that is tailored to fit their needs" said Martin S. Fisher, executive director of Science Central. Pre-registration is required for this event.
