Red Cross Blood Drive At Fort Wayne International Airport

Fort Wayne International Airport is proud to once again partner with the American Red Cross of Indiana to host a blood drive on Wednesday, September 2, 2020 from 9:00am-2:00pm. The blood drive will take place in the FWA terminal at baggage claim.

These are uncertain times in the midst of the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, and the Red Cross is experiencing a blood shortage. It is a critical time for blood donations, and we are happy to do our part to help out the Red Cross during this time of need. The Red Cross staff is trained and ready to set up the blood drive following all of the CDC guidelines for safe social distancing and providing a clean, safe, and sanitized environment. Because of this, it is highly encouraged that you sign up for an appointment time in advance.

All Red Cross blood donations are now being screened for COVID-19 antibodies. The antibody test is authorized by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration and may indicate if the donor’s immune system has produced antibodies to the coronavirus, regardless of whether an individual developed symptoms. This is in addition to the routine screening and infectious disease testing donor blood is tested for.
