The Community Foundation of Greater Fort Wayne #GivingTuesdayNow campaign on Tuesday, May 5, 2020 has helped to raise over $725,000 for over 100 nonprofits in the community with 21organizations fully funded. Over 5,000 gifts were made to the Community Foundation #GivingTuesdayNow Campaign to help nonprofits with COVID-19 related issues and the effect it has had on their organization. Over 100 nonprofit requests were displayed on CFGFW’s donate page from 7 AM – 7 PM totaling $1.7 million in requests.

“We know that Fort Wayne and Allen County is a generous community, but we had no idea the amount of outpouring we would see on this day of giving. It feels as if the Fort Wayne community is giving all of our nonprofits a big hug,” said Alison Gerardot, Vice President of Philanthropic Services. “What a testament to the philanthropy in this community and the impact it has.”

During #GivingTuesdayNow $110k was raised by the Community Foundation of Greater Fort Wayne in matching dollars thanks to generous fund holders at the Foundation. This money was leveraged to help raise the $725,000 total.

#GivingTuesdayNow is a global day of giving and unity that has taken place on May 5, 2020 as an emergency response to the unprecedented need caused by COVID-19.

For nearly 100 years, the Community Foundation of Greater Fort Wayne has been a public charitable foundation serving Allen County since 1922. The Community Foundation had assets of approximately $169 million at December 31, 2019 and awarded more than $6 million in charitable grants and scholarships in that year. The Community Foundation of Greater Fort Wayne does three things: help people make their charitable giving more impactful, connect funding to nonprofits through effective grantmaking, and provide leadership to address community needs to improve quality of life.
