Inaugural Start Strong Breakfast to Benefit Turnstone Adaptive Sports Athletes

Over 300 community members, Turnstone supporters, and sports fans gathered in Turnstone’s Plassman Athletic Center for the inaugural Start Strong: Limitless Possibilities breakfast. Headlining the event was 17-time Paralympic Medalist Tatyana McFadden.

The morning breakfast event highlighted the growing momentum of the Paralympic movement and the prestige of the adaptive sports movement that has found roots in the Fort Wayne community. Proceeds from the morning benefit the newly launched Elite Athlete Scholarship Fund to come alongside rising and elite athletes that are pursuing excellence in their sports of choice including dreams of Paralympic competition.

Tatyana shared her story of discipline and determination which began when she was born in Russia and was diagnosed with Spina Bifida and continued through her now successful athletic career including Paralympic medals and numerous marathon victories. Tatyana’s relentless drive to tackle her goals with the right attitude is a testament to the importance of pursuing possibilities and empowerment in all of our lives.

This year’s event was sponsored by PNC Bank and Summit City Chevrolet and numerous other community partners.

Turnstone Center is proud to support the goals of its clients and athletes as one of eleven Olympic and Paralympic Training Sites nationwide.
