Today the Allen County Department of Environmental Management (ACDEM) launched their redesigned, mobile-friendly website acwastewatcher.org. The new website functions as a hub of information for residents, businesses, and organizations to reduce their environmental footprints and dispose of materials safely in Allen County. Through improved environmental education and accessible information, we can conserve natural resources and reduce pollution in our community while supporting the growth of a circular economy.
ACDEM’s goal for the website redesign is to offer residents a web experience that is user friendly, accessible, and functional. New features of acwastewatcher.org include:
An educational experience that provides information on how to “Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, and Compost” and where to donate, recycle, and dispose of items in Allen County
A search bar that directs users to local donation, reuse, recycling, and disposal sites
An events calendar
A FAQ section for commonly-asked questions
An e-newsletter signup form
Registration forms for business recycling
A registration form to request presentations and educational engagements
A “Resources” page that will soon include downloadable materials for schools, businesses, organizations, and residents
Developed by Roanoke-based Reusser Design, ACDEM’s new website is now also ADA compliant for people with disabilities. Users can scroll to the bottom of acwastewatcher.org and click “Accessibility” to adjust the font size and contrast mode, i.e., full color or black and white. Users will also have the option to view text for non-text content like a photo or dialogue in a video.
