City, Founders Spark Present First-Ever Startup Village

The City of Fort Wayne’s Summit City Match pilot program and Founders Spark present Startup Village during the City’s Open Streets event July 14 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Startup Village will offer opportunities for area residents to learn about all that is involved in starting a business. Representatives from ten different business and entrepreneurship organizations will answer questions about everything from business plans to funding opportunities to business coaching.

Startup Village will be located at 1816 Calhoun St., in the ABM parking lot July 14 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Startup Village will also feature eight pop-up shops featuring local entrepreneurs interested in testing their business ideas. The pop-up shops will be located near the intersection of Calhoun and Williams streets. They will offer a variety of products, including work from artisans in developing countries, handmade clothing for young girls, graphic art and hand-crafted jewelry. Live mural painting will also be part of the pop-up shops.

Startup Village is part of the City of Fort Wayne’s third annual Open Streets event, which closes 25 blocks of Calhoun Street to vehicles and opens it to bicyclists, walkers and skaters. Nearly 100 free activities will line Calhoun, including live music, a giant bubble machine, BMX bike show, bike parade and more. Visit www.OpenStreetsFW.org for more information.
