FW Fire Department Welcomes 10 New Firefighters

Ten firefighters were welcomed to the Fort Wayne Fire Department in a graduation ceremony this evening at the Public Safety Academy.

The department’s 91st recruit class will begin their duty as Fort Wayne firefighters at engine houses throughout the city on June 22.

The recruits participated in 20 weeks of training and will now continue their training alongside firefighters from the 18 stations that serve the City of Fort Wayne.

The following FWFD graduates were sworn in during today’s ceremony:

  • Timothy Fehrer
  • Benjamin Sobczak
  • Dominic Garrett
  • Cody Vazquez
  • Anansa Harris
  • Zachery Vendrely
  • James House
  • Tanner Wild
  • Austin Jett
  • Anthony Mast

“Protecting the safety of our citizens and their personal property is a vital aspect of keeping our community healthy and strong,” said Mayor Tom Henry. “We appreciate the fact that our firefighters put their lives on the line whenever they are called into action.”

Graduates Anthony Capozza and Christopher Schroeder were sworn in to the Huntington Fire Department during the same ceremony.
