Young Paddlers Club Kick-Off Party: Free Paddle on the Pigeon River for Kids and Their Adults on June 19

Does your child enjoy the outdoors and seek new experiences in nature, or are you looking for ways to encourage your child to get outside and be more active over the summer break? If so, the Northeast Indiana Water Trails has the trick; participate in the Young Paddlers Club! To kick-start your young paddler, meet the Northeast Indiana Water Trails team and their young paddlers on June 19th at 5pm at the Trading Post Outfitters (7525 E 300 N Howe, IN) for a canoe or kayak trip and S’mores on the Pigeon River!

Northeast Indiana has 566 miles of diverse flowing waters providing opportunities for outdoor exploration. The Northeast Indiana Water Trails (NEIWTs) has assembled a list of 19 activities on or along the rivers for children ages 5 – 15 to explore. Those children who complete three of the activities by September 15, 2019 will earn the 2019 Young Paddlers badge!

Young paddlers can download the 2019 form and list of activities at www.neiwatertrails.com/get-involved/ or pick one up at Fort Wayne Outfitters, Trading Post Outfitters, or the Northeast Indiana Water Trails offices.

The Northeast Indiana Water Trails team can’t wait to meet all the Young Paddlers of Northeast Indiana! Thanks to Three Rivers Federal Credit Union’s sponsorship, the June 19th kick-off party is absolutely free to the first 40 participants who register (one adult per child please). Register early as we expect this trip to fill up fast (https://tradingpostcanoe.com/canoe-kayak-trips/). (An adult must be accompanied by a child and be present and responsible for all children participating in the paddle).

The Northeast Indiana Water Trails is a regional partnership working to increase recreation opportunities on our waterways by promoting boat access, water safety and stewardship, and the development of regional water trails that will empower our citizens to become more active and unified.
