Signal Modernization Scheduled On S.R. 14 In Allen County

The Indiana Department of Transportation announces signal improvements planned along S.R. 14 in Allen County. Beginning on or after Monday, May 6, INDOT contractor, Michiana, is scheduled to begin working on several locations, weather permitting.

The project consists of installing new signal heads, cabinets and other upgrades at most signalized intersections on S.R. 14 between the Whitely/Allen county line and the S.R. 14/I-69 interchange.

Drivers may see lane restrictions during the work at each intersection.

The project also includes the installation of flashing yellow arrows (FYA) on left-turn signals at specific intersections. Motorists should expect to encounter temporary daytime lane restrictions in both locations. Some overnight work may be needed.

Intersections receiving new FYA signals include:

• S.R. 14 at West Hamilton Road

• S.R. 14 at Hadley Road

FYA have been shown to improve traffic flow and reduce waiting times at signals. More information about the flashing yellow left-turn arrow is available on INDOT’s web site at www.in.gov/indot/3202.htm.
