FWA Plants Trees In Honor Of Arbor Day

The Fort Wayne-Allen County Airport Authority (FWACAA) will plant 20 trees on the airport campus to celebrate Arbor Day on Friday, April 26, 2019.

The 20 pine trees will be planted by FWACAA staff in areas in front of the airport campus and terminal building. Many of the trees will be placed near Ferguson road in open areas visible to motorists as they pass the FWA campus. The new greenery will also be able to be enjoyed by passengers as they arrive at the terminal building.

“The Airport Authority is happy to contribute to the community’s celebration of Arbor Day,” said Scott Hinderman, Executive Director of Airports. “This is a great opportunity to replace some of the trees lost from the emerald ash bore in NE Indiana and to make the community’s airport campus an even more appealing public place to visit.”

Not only will the trees serve as a tie-in and celebration of Arbor Day, they will also serve as a way to beautify the airport campus following last year’s terminal road construction project. Airport officials also see this as a way to continue providing the Fort Wayne community with a top-notch airport.
