2nd Annual “Serve Sunday” To Mobilize Hundreds Of Volunteers For Community Work Day

On Sunday, May 5th hundreds of volunteers will take to the streets of Markle to serve at various projects throughout the community. Projects include painting downtown storefronts, making crafts with residents at the local nursing home, and landscaping fairways on the 18-hole Wildcat Disc Golf Course that was install at the local park during Serve Sunday last year.

Volunteers will serve at their various projects from 10:00am to Noon and then gather at the Markle Church of Christ afterward for lunch and to celebrate the good work that was accomplished by the community coming together in service.

Serve Sunday has been embraced by individuals from Markle churches, area businesses, and throughout the community who see a need for unity and a desire to make a difference by working together to beautify the town. After months of planning and preparation, the big event is set to take place with volunteers wearing orange t-shirts bearing one word printed across the chest—“FOR.”

“Too many organizations and people are known by what they’re against,” said Aaron McClary, President of the Markle Area Chamber of Commerce. “We want to be known by what we’re FOR. We’re for people, we’re for our neighbors, we’re for Markle.”
