Pets For All Special Needs Summer Camp

Fort Wayne Animal Care & Control is teaming up with Fort Wayne Autism Center to offer Pets for All Summer Camp – a camp designed specifically for children with learning differences and/or disabilities.

“We have seen this year the impact summer camps at the shelter can have on the children in our community,” Community Relations and Education Specialist at FWACC Holly Pasquinelli said. “Pets for All Summer Camp is an incredible opportunity bringing together the trained staff at Fort Wayne Autism Center and our Humane Education staff for a unique and fulfilling opportunity for all children.”

During the two-day camp, campers will learn about the shelter, help the animals in our care, learn what it means to be a responsible pet owner and learn how to stay safe around animals.

“We are excited to partner with Fort Wayne Animal Care and Control to offer an adaptive camp experience for children with special needs,” Regional Clinical Director Laura Britton said. “This camp has been designed to also provide social opportunities, guidance with animal interaction and to teach compassion and empathy through responsible pet ownership — skills that we think are super valuable for young learners of all developmental levels!”

The camp will take place at the shelter located at 3020 Hillegas Road August 3-4 from 9 a.m. – Noon. Registration is $50 per camper. Each camper will be accompanied by a parent or guardian during the camp. To learn more about Pets for All Summer Camp and register visit fwacc.org.
