Dragon Boat Team Registration Open

Riverfront Fort Wayne and the Fort Wayne Parks and Recreation Department invite you to form a Dragon Boat team and register for the 4th Annual Fort Wayne Dragon Boat Races! The Races will take place at Headwaters Park West on June 23 on the beautiful St. Marys River, starting with opening ceremonies at 8 am. Each team is required to have 20 paddlers, including a designated captain and drummer. (Drummers cannot weigh more than 160 lbs.) Each team that registers will race their boat at least twice on event day and will receive practice time. All of the necessary training and equipment will be supplied for teams during practices and on event day including boat, life vests, paddles and steerman/coach.

New additions this year include tailgating on Friday night with live music by U.R.B., yard games, food and drinks. Saturday main event additions include: catering and bar from The Deck, a Drummer’s Parade, a Spicy Ramen Eating Contest, the Steersman Auction, Team Voting, yard games, and expanded free children’s activities and crafts. Don’t forget to check out the opening ceremonies by Chinese Friends and Family who will be performing the Eye Dotting ceremony, Beautiful China Dance, Dragon Dance, and Drum Dance. All teams receive a SWAG bag and Riverfront water bottles for the race. Dragon Boat Races t-shirts will be available for purchase, as well.

Team registration is open until June 1st, 2018. Single Team Registration Fee: $2,100. Full payment must be made at the time of registration. Rosters may be presented at the race. Contact Megan.Butler to sign up.
