Partnership Brings Fundraising School To Fort Wayne

The Community Foundation of Greater Fort Wayne and Indiana United Ways are excited to announce a partnership to bring the Indiana University Lilly Family School of Philanthropy’s highly regarded Fund Raising School to Fort Wayne. This summer, participants will be able to receive their Certificate in Fund Raising Management (CFRM) through a four-course curriculum being offered locally for the first time.

Recent studies of our nonprofit sector identified a significant need for professional fund raising training and development staff support. “We knew development professionals and nonprofits were suffering due to the lack of affordable and accessible professional training programs.” said Brad Little, President and CEO of the Community Foundation. “Bringing such a successful and well-respected training opportunity to our local community is a huge win for nonprofits.”

Until now, CFRM courses have only been available to nonprofits willing and able to invest in sending staff down to Indianapolis for several multiple day courses, making the program cost prohibitive for many smaller nonprofits.

The local four-course curriculum will begin in May and end in late August, with one course offered per month. Due to space limitations, participation will be limited to one person per organization. The total cost for the full course curriculum is $1,500 and participants must attend all four sessions in full. Each course will be taught by instructors from the Indianapolis-based Fund Raising School and will be held in the Chapman Room at the Community Foundation of Greater Fort Wayne.

The full course schedule and offerings are as follows:

Principles and Techniques of Fundraising: Thursday and Friday, May 24-25 & Thursday and Friday, May 31- June 1

Capital Campaign: Monday-Wednesday, June 25-27

Annual Sustainability: Monday and Tuesday, July 23-24

Major Gifts: Monday-Wednesday, August 27-29

“Opportunities like this can truly alter the course of an entire organization,” Said Maureen Noe, President/CEO of Indiana United Ways. “This curriculum allows both development professionals and beginners to learn and grow in a familiar setting with a committed cohort. Doing so naturally strengthens the participants, their organizations, and the local nonprofit community as a whole. When systems are strengthened the infrastructure is in place for individual lives to be improved. We applaud this effort and value the partnership with the Community Foundation of Greater Fort Wayne.”

Interested individuals are encouraged to sign-up as quickly, as seating is limited to 28 participants and spots are expected to fill up fast. Full details and registration information are available on the Indiana United Ways website at www.indiana-united-ways.squarespace.com/cfrm-registration-cover.
