Upcoming Events At Bishop Luers High School

Bishop Luers students to honor veterans, welcome Capt. Guy Gruters

Bishop Luers High School will be celebrating Veteran’s Day 2017.

On Nov. 9, the school’s Sodalitas service groups will create care packages with handwritten letters to be delivered to the homeless veterans and veteran patients at the Veterans Affairs Hospital at the Fort Wayne campus.

The Bishop Luers community is also inviting former USAF Capt. Guy D. Gruters as the keynote speaker to conclude the day’s events. Captain Gruters was a POW for five years during the Vietnam War and speaks about his relationship with God. His book “Locked Up With God”details that relationship. He will be speaking to the Bishop Luers High School community starting promptly at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 9. The high school extends an invitation to all interested members, especially those who are active duty and retired servicemembers of the United States military. Incoming Bishop Luers students to take Henry-Keefer Scholarship Exam

Bishop Luers High School will offer the Henry-Keefer Scholarship Exam on Saturday, Nov. 11, from 8 – 11:30 a.m. Any eighth grader interested in attending Bishop Luers High School is welcome to take the test. A total of $10,000 in scholarships will be awarded to the top ten scoring students on the test. No pre-registration is required. Students need a few No. 2 pencils; no calculator is needed. LuersKnight Ladies’ Social planned Nov. 12

Ladies are encouraged to make their reservations for the LuersKnight Ladies’ Social Bingo. The event is Sunday, Nov. 12, from 1-4 p.m. in the Bishop Luers High School Cafeteria. Admission is $25 cash donation or an auction item valued at $25 for LuersKnight and includes one bingo card, two drink tickets and appetizers. Additional cards and adult beverages available for purchase. Must be 21 or older to attend. Great prizes, guest bingo callers and “20 Questions for Principal Jim Huth” are part of the agenda. Bishop Luers Open House on Nov. 16

Bishop Luers High School will host an Open House on Thursday, Nov. 16, from 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. Prospective new students and their families are invited to join the Bishop Luers teachers, staff and students to learn more about our school including financial aid, sports and clubs, curriculum and much more. Bishop Luers Turkey Trot at Columbia Street West Nov. 19

The annual Bishop Luers High School Turkey Trot is Sunday, Nov. 19, at 5:30 -10:30 p.m. at Columbia Street West in Fort Wayne. This is a private event on the historic Landing where the only patrons admitted must have Bishop Luers Turkey Trot tickets. The evening will include live music with two bands, Actual Size and Swimming Into View, both featuring Bishop Luers alumni. The event benefits Bishop Luers High School athletics and performing arts.

Advance tickets are $20. Tickets at the door will be $30. The festivities also includes 50-50 drawings, raffles and prizes. Food and drinks are included in the ticket price. A cash bar is also available.
