Rescue Mission Annual Sleep-Out Event In Two Weeks

On Friday, November 10, The Rescue Mission will host “One Night Without a Home”, an event intended to give participants a glimpse of being homeless while raising awareness about homelessness and raising funds for The Rescue Mission. Participants will spend the night on the lawn of Charis House (431 Fairmount Pl., Fort Wayne, IN 46808), the women and children’s ministry of The Rescue Mission, and at a second location, Praise Park (5396 St. Joe Center Road, Fort Wayne, IN 46835).

Participants are currently raising sponsorship funds in order to bring “luxury” items, such as hand warmers, extra blankets, a cardboard box, a sleeping bag, etc. Last year’s event raised more than $35,000.

“One Night Without a Home” is the kickoff event for National Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week. From November 11-18, agencies serving the less fortunate will come together to raise awareness about hunger and homelessness through various events planned throughout the week.

The media is invited to attend. Photo opportunities will be available throughout the night.

Proud sponsors of “One Night Without a Home” include Brotherhood Mutual, Sweetwater Sound, The James Foundation, Thrivent Financial, WBCL, STAR 88.3, Ambassador Enterprises, Phillips Financial, Fort Wayne Metals, Pathway Community Church, Glenbrook Square, and Ash Brokerage.
