Franciscan Center Receives $10,000 Grant

The Franciscan Center announces today a grant award of $10,000 from the St. Joseph Community Health Foundation to support their St. Joseph Medicine Cabinet Program.

“This funding allows us to continue to serve those who come to us in need of non-food items, including toiletry, hygiene, baby, health & wellness, and cleaning supplies,” explains Tony Ley, executive director. “This support from the St. Joseph Community Health Foundation will help us keep the Medicine Cabinet open for months to come, and we are grateful for their trust in our program.”

Many clients of the Franciscan Center express their continuing thanks for the Medicine Cabinet, for “…by simply receiving [Medicine Cabinet] donations they can offset other budget shortfalls to purchase needed necessities like food and rent,” adds Tony. “It is truly humbling to see our clients benefiting so greatly from this service, and it provides a powerful reminder to our staff and volunteers that having the ability to purchase our own toiletries is truly a blessing.”

Those wanting to support the Medicine Cabinet can drop off new donations of non-food supplies at its their main offices at 1015 E Maple Grove Avenue from 9a – 4p M-F and 8a – 11a on Saturday and at their Family Thrift Store at 925 E Coliseum between Parnell and Clinton streets from 9a – 8p M-F and 9a – 6p on Saturday.
