X Count To Debut Electronic Targets Saturday

Just in time for this weekend’s youth rifle event, The X Count has completed the installation of MegaLink electronic target systems at its indoor rifle range, located at 5301 Merchandise Road in Fort Wayne. The electronic targets will be introduced at the Tri-County Conference Junior High/First-Year Match this Saturday, February 11, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. MegaLink target systems provide electronic scoring to shooting ranges of all sizes around the world and have been approved by the International Shooting Sports Federation for use in World Cups, World Cup Finals, World Championships, and the Olympics.

“This advancement in technology brings The X Count one step closer to its goal of becoming a USA Shooting Certified Training Center,” according to Diane Rice, vice president of business and range operations for The X Count. As a result of installing these targets, she said that The X Count will be able to host the Endeavor Games rifle competition in partnership with Turnstone this April, as well as USA Shooting’s Advanced Coach Class in May, and various other prestigious rifle events in the future.

MegaLink is the leading producer of electronic targets in Norway and one of the leading electronic target producers internationally. The X Count was able to purchase MegaLink systems at a fraction of their original cost from the Civilian Marksmanship Program, which recently converted to the Kongsberg Target System.

The X Count, which serves as a training facility for area youth rifle teams, hosted the 2016/2017 Rifle/Pistol Indiana State Junior Olympic Regional Competition (JORC) in January and will host a variety of other youth rifle competitions in the coming year.
