Rescue Mission Warming Shelter Plans

The Rescue Mission has outlined its plan to keep the homeless safe and warm this winter. Anyone in need of warmth or shelter is welcome to take advantage of the warming center.

· Temperatures below 40 degrees in real degrees or because of wind chill or other conditions: East lobby of The Rescue Mission will serve as a warming shelter from 7am-6pm.

· Temperatures below 32 degrees in real degrees or because of wind chill or other conditions: East lobby of The Rescue Mission will serve as a warming shelter from 7am-7pm.

· Temperatures below 10 degrees in real degrees or because of wind chill or other conditions: The Rescue Mission will serve as a warming shelter from 7am-7pm and will provide overnight accommodations for men who come to the warming shelter.

· Winter contingency shelter policy: During winter months, when temperatures are unsafe, The Rescue Mission’s men’s facility (301 W. Superior St.) does not turn away anyone based on bed space. Cots are available for use in the Chapel as overflow shelter. Men in need of shelter can check in each night at 7:00pm.

As always, men are encouraged to enter Life House, our housing program that offers men basic needs, case managers, and ongoing spiritual support, or Restoration House, a longer, more intense residential program that attends to the whole person, meeting spiritual, emotional, physical, and educational needs.
