History Center’s Buffalo Tro Raises Money For Local School Group Visits

This year marks the History Center’s eleventh year throwing its annual Buffalo Tro. The money raised during this unique fundraiser, which involves tossing buffalo steaks onto a blazing bed of hot coals, is a significant contribution to the History Center’s Heritage Education Fund.

Believing that a firsthand experience with history should be available to all students, all proceeds from this event support our Heritage Education Fund, which allows students in Northeast Indiana to visit the History Center free of charge. As a result, over 200 school groups visit the History Center each year free of charge. In the 2015-2016 school year, over 7,800 students and over a thousand teachers, parents, and chaperones visited our museum because of the generous donations to the Heritage Education Fund.

The Buffalo Tro takes place at 5:30pm, Friday, September 30 at the Chief Richardville House, 5705 Bluffton Road. The $50 reservation includes a catered dinner, entertainment by local group the Jug Huffers, a beer tasting with Mad Anthony Brewing, a silent auction; tours of this National Historic Landmark, and of course, buffalo steaks.

Tickets and more information are available at www.fwhistorycenter.com or by calling the History Center at (260) 426-2882.

The History Center serves present and future generations by collecting, preserving, and sharing historic artifacts, documents, and images that describe the people, places, and events that define Fort Wayne and Allen County history.
