Allen County SPCA Collects Donations For Shelter In Need

More than 70 felines were rescued from a central Indiana cat hoarding case on Tuesday; so, the Allen County SPCA is responding by collecting cat food and cat supplies for their colleagues at Muncie Animal Control this Wednesday and Thursday August 10-11 from the hours of 11a-6p at their location at 4914 S. Hanna Street – at the corner of Hanna and Pettit.

"We know how overwhelming huge intakes can be, and if a shelter isn’t prepared for that kind of influx, they’ll need all the help they can get," said Allen County SPCA executive director, Jessica Henry. "I received an email from them last night asking for donations, and while we don’t have much to spare, we’re sending what we can. We thought we’d see if our community would like to help, too." Muncie Animal Control has specifically requested dry or canned cat and kitten food, litter pans, cat litter and cat toys. Large wire crates are also needed.

Allen County SPCA staff will deliver the emergency cat provisions on Friday morning. Anyone interested in donating is welcome to drop off their donations at the Allen County SPCA during business hours.
