New Postmaster For Fort Wayne

Surrounded by family, friends and co-workers, Kathryn Harris will be installed as the 36th Postmaster of Fort Wayne on Friday, Aug. 5, 2016.

The ceremony will take place at 9 a.m. at the Centennial Post Office, 2525 Independence Drive, Fort Wayne, IN 46808.

Harris is a 37-year veteran of the Postal Service and started her career in 1979 as a city carrier in Arlington, VA. Since 1984, she has served in a management role in numerous positions throughout the country.

Before she came to Fort Wayne, she was the Rio Grande District Human Resources Manager in San Antonio, TX.

As Postmaster of Fort Wayne, Harris oversees 400 employees that deliver to 150,000 customers Monday through Saturday with package delivery on Sunday.

Joining her husband, Norris and her daughter, Alexandra at the event will be several USPS executives including Greater Indiana District Manager Todd Hawkins, Great Lakes Area Marketing Manager Mike McInturf and Fort Wayne Processing & Distribution Center Manager Martin Hunnicutt. Also attending will be Jim Davis, president of the National Association of Letter Carriers, and Mary Light, president of the American Postal Workers Union as well as representatives from USPS management associations. Several of her former colleagues who have now retired are also traveling to the installation ceremony.

Harris holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Foreign Languages from Georgetown University and a Master of Science degree in Business from Johns Hopkins University.

“I look forward to continuing to provide excellent service to our Fort Wayne customers along with my team of dedicated employees,” Harris said.
