The TinCaps lost to the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers (Milwaukee Brewers), 12-3, on Thursday night at Neuroscience Group Field at Fox Cities Stadium.
The home team wasted little time in asserting itself with two runs in the first inning, two more in the second, and one in the third against Jerry Keel (L, 5-10).
Fort Wayne (9-18, 45-52) scored all of its runs in the top of the fifth. Catcher Marcus Greene Jr. hit his second home run of the season off Jake Drossner (W, 4-5). Later in the frame, designated hitter Austin Allen and third baseman Carlos Belen added RBI singles.
Greene Jr. finished 3-for-3 — just a triple shy of the cycle — plus a walk.
Wisconsin (14-13, 48-49) turned it into a blowout with two runs in the home fifth, three in the sixth, and two more in the eighth.
