RHP Jacob Nix (0-0, 3.07) vs. RHP Justin Donatella (4-0, 0.94)

Saturday, May 7, 2016 — Fifth Third Bank Ballpark (Geneva, IL) — First Pitch 2:00 p.m. — Game 30

ABOUT LAST NIGHT: The TinCaps beat the Cougars in Kane County, 5-4, to even the series at a game a piece.

WHAT’S AT STAKE: Fort Wayne is going for its 4th consecutive series win. A victory today would make it a winning road trip for the TinCaps, who’ve gone 3-2 so far against Clinton and Kane County.

MOST TEAM STRIKEOUTS SINCE: Brett Kennedy (10), Trey Wingenter (5), and Gerardo Reyes (2) combined for 17 strikeouts Friday night — the most strikeouts in game for the TinCaps since they had 17 on April 16, 2014. That was an 18-inning game at Parkview Field against Burlington.

The last time Fort Wayne racked up 17+ strikeouts in a 9-inning game was Aug. 25, 2011 at South Bend (18). The starting pitcher was Keyvius Sampson, who’s now a starter for the Reds. He fanned 9 in 5 IP. Kevin Quackenbush, now a Padres reliever, struck out the side in the ninth. (The franchise record for strikeouts in a game is 20 — set in a 16-inning game on August 21, 2013 vs. South Bend.)

MOST INDIVIDUAL STRIKEOUTS SINCE: Kennedy’s 10 Ks were the most for a TinCaps pitcher since Kyle Lloyd fanned 10 Lansing batters on Aug. 4, 2014 at Parkview Field. Lloyd is now a reliever with Double-A San Antonio. (The franchise record for strikeouts in a game is 15 — held by LaTroy Hakwins, who did it on June 25, 1993 against Cedar Rapids.)
