Sons of American Legion (SAL) Post 241 Donates $500 To Boy Scout Troop 344

The Sons of the American Legion Post #241 has made a generous donation to Boy Scout Troop 344 and Venture Crew 2344 sponsored by the local Waynedale United Methodist Church. This is the 6th year the SAL has donated to this local Boy Scout Troop.

The boys meet at the church, located on the corner of Old Trail Road and Church Street. The meetings are held on Tuesdays at 7:00PM to 8:30PM, and all school age boys are eligible to join Boy Scouts.

Young boys starting in first grade are eligible to join Cub Scouts, after age eleven to join Boy Scouts, and from age 14 – 21, boys and girls may join the high adventure Crew Scouts. Parents, please feel welcome to bring your boys to one of our Tuesday night meetings to discuss how they can become involved in Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts or in the Venture Crew.

Thanks to the SAL American Legion Post #241 donation, Troop 344 boys will be able to attend summer camp at Anthony Wayne Area Council Chief Little Turtle. Each year we have parents who would have to turn down their son’s request to go to camp for lack of funds. The week long camp this year costs approximately $260.00 per boy, with food included. Some of the SAL donation money may be used to assist boys to get a sleeping bag or a uniform to wear to camp.

Summer camp is a major event of the year for boy scouts. While at camp, boys have lots of fun, learn new life long skills, and work on merit badges, such as camping, cooking, swimming, first aid, etc., that help them earn rank in the troop.

Thank you SAL American Legion Post 241! Your donation is greatly appreciated!
