Managed Health Services (MHS) is partnering with Science Central to help improve overall health awareness as well as impact the health outcomes of children and young adults in Allen County.
As a Science Central "Sponsor of the Month," MHS will build an annual outreach, awareness and call-to-action campaign targeting Allen County children and young adults. In this multi-phase program, the focus is encouraging preventive care, challenging engagement and rewarding positive behavior. According to the 2014 Annual Report from the Fort Wayne-Allen County Department of Health, Allen County has seen a decrease in child vaccination rates. Additionally, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) references the academic success of America’s youth is strongly linked with their health. "MHS is focusing on improving Allen County outcomes through education, outreach and an imaginative partnership with Science Central," said MHS CEO Kevin O’Toole. "We want to focus on messaging that highlights having a medical home, preventive care and well-visits, healthy activities and diet for children, and the impact of physical health on academic success." Science Central is a science museum targeting children and young adults. It’s a catalyst for learning, particularly in the areas of science, technology, engineering and math. Careers in these areas are among the fastest-growing fields in the nation. For more information, visit sciencecentral.org.
