Volunteers Needed 2016

Visiting Nurse, a locally-based, non-profit hospice and palliative care provider is looking for volunteers to assist in a variety of roles serving patients in the community as well as in Hospice Home, northeast Indiana’s only free-standing hospice facility dedicated to end-of-life care for both the patient and the family.

This special work is for people that seek a meaningful volunteer experience and requires individuals that are emotionally mature, compassionate and comfortable with issues of death and dying. Volunteers are needed to visit patients in area homes and nursing facilities or to provide respite to caregivers. Volunteers are a vital and essential part of the agency’s team that brings broad end-of-life support to patients and families. Visiting Nurse has a well-established volunteer program that provides ongoing support and guidance for the volunteer. A thorough 20 hour training will be held in early May 2016. Interested candidates can visit the website for information on small group interviews in April:

Visiting Nurse serves patients in Adams, Allen, DeKalb, Huntington, Noble, Wabash, Wells and Whitley counties. For additional information, please call Ann Blue, Volunteer Coordinator at (260) 435-3222 or annblue
