New Assistant Superintendents Approved FWCS

The Fort Wayne Community Schools Board of School Trustees the appointment of two assistant superintendents at the March 14, 2016, Board meeting. Both appointments are effective July 1, 2016.

Chris Hissong, Assistant Superintendent-Secondary Chris Hissong joined FWCS in 2013 as a Secondary Director in the Assistant Superintendent-Secondary’s Office. Prior to joining FWCS, he had spent 33 years as a teacher and administrator in East Allen County Schools. Hissong started as a P.E. teacher at Paul Harding High School in 1978. In 1992, he became an assistant principal, and in 1994, became principal of New Haven Middle School. In 2000, he took over as principal at Heritage Junior-Senior High School, where he stayed for a decade. In 2010, he became the Executive Director of School Management for EACS. He will take over for Debra Faye Williams-Robbins, who will oversee Student & Family Support Services and the new Family & Community Engagement Center.

Get Nichols, Assistant Superintendent-Elementary Get Nichols began her career in education in 1980 as a first-grade teacher in Oklahoma. She joined FWCS in 1994 as a substitute teacher and was hired as a third-grade teacher at Price Elementary in 1996. In 1999, she participated in the administrative intern program and was assigned as principal of Brentwood Elementary in 2000 where she stayed for seven years. In 2007, she was named an Elementary Director in the Assistant Superintendent-Elementary’s Office. The Assistant Superintendent-Elementary position has been vacant since last year.
