Hundreds of hospital representatives, emergency management personnel, health department employees, firefighters, law enforcement officers, and paramedics from all across northeast Indiana will be participating in a large scale Ebola/Infectious Disease tabletop exercise on Friday, March 11, 2016 at the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum. The District 3 Healthcare Coalition is sponsoring this drill for all counties in District 3.
Even though the current US Ebola threat has subsided, the District hopes to test the ability of all participating counties to respond to any emerging infectious disease of concern. The simulated drill will test how each county exercises their plans they already have in place for handling a person under investigation (PUI) for Ebola. During this time, each county will be able to drill its own plan along with their partnering agencies to simulate how a community handles such a potential threat. The goal is for each county to test its communication plans, community preparedness overall, resource identification needed, and ability to contain an infectious disease.
This event is not open to the public, but the media is welcome to attend at 12:30 p.m. You will have the opportunity to get video and/or pictures of the 300+ group of officials meeting as well as interview opportunities with pre-selected officials. Further, the Indiana State Department of Health will have their Mobile Field Hospital on display in an adjoining room that the media will be welcome to tour and take video.
