Half Price Books Celebrates Read Across America Day On March 2, 2016

"Logan is only 4. But he has his favorite books, and loves when someone reads to him." Lisa, Logan’s Mom

Reading inspires. It develops imagination, and creativity. It’s why Logan and his Mom, Lisa, will be one of the 45 million readers of all ages taking part in Read Across America Day on March 2, 2016.

Half Price Books is a proud supporter of this special day devoted to reading. Its own bibliomaniacs are available to talk about the importance, and share some of their favorites with your viewers.

Read Across America Day was created nineteen years ago by the National Education Association as a way to celebrate books on the birthday of Theodore Seuss Geisel, Dr. Seuss; it continues today to create awareness about the value of reading.

“This is a great opportunity to promote the importance of reading and how it is directly connected to learning,” said Kathy Doyle Thomas, executive vice president and chief strategy officer for Half Price Books. “Dr. Seuss’ books are such an enjoyable story to share, and whether parent or teacher is reading to a child, or kids are reading to other kids, Read Across America marks a day to get the habit of reading started, no matter what type of book connects with you.”

Half Price Book helps make the connection through its local stores, which feature popular and classic kids titles.

Join the parents, grandparents, teachers, Governors and Mayors, and even sports legends as we work together to build a nation of readers, on Read Across America Day, and every day.
