Ivy Tech Northeast To Host European Competition On Friday; Student Winners To Travel To Europe

WHAT:
The European Competition is presented through Ivy Tech Community College’s Hospitality Administration program. Students who choose to participate can do so in one of three categories: culinary, baking, or event management.

Culinary students are given a mystery basket of ingredients to create a pre-determined menu. Baking students create an assortment of pre-determined baked goods, including filling an order for a decorated cake. Event management students schedule a large-scale event, including details about food, location, décor, speaker(s), and more. All three categories have a time-limit.

The winners, selected by College and industry experts, will travel to Europe in the spring to study baking and culinary arts. Based on their experiences on the trip, they will be responsible for creating the menu for 2016’s Reason to Taste fundraiser, which raised more than $100,000 last year.
