This Week In Komet Hockey

Fuel visit Friday for Star Wars Night, Icemen here Sunday

120 miles of Indiana highway 69 separate the Komets from the Fuel. The Komets will be skating their 170th game against an Indianapolis team since their very first meeting Oct. 18, 1955 in Fort Wayne, a 3-2 overtime win over the Indianapolis Chiefs in the International Hockey League (IHL). Since then the Komets have mounted an all-time record of 171-82-20-5 in 278 regular season games against Indy. The Komets are 2-1-0 against the Fuel after three meetings this season. Friday’s home game against the Fuel will mark the 279th all-time meeting. Indy is riding an eight-game winless skid (0-7-1) after losing all three games last week. The Fuel will host Wheeling Thursday before visiting the Komets Friday. The Komets and division rival Fuel are tied for third place in the Midwest Division of the Western Conference heading into week nine of 2015-16, trailing first-place Quad City by nine points.
The Komets and Preferred Automotive Group present Star Wars Night on Friday, Dec. 11 at 8pm against intrastate rival Indy Fuel. Fans are invited to celebrate the upcoming release of the film Star Wars: Episode VII The Force Awakens at the game. The Komets will wear special Star Wars jerseys which will be auctioned off to benefit Camp Whatcha Wanna Do. Fans can also meet their favorite Star Wars characters and free lightsabers will be given away to the first 1,000 kids. There will also be a Food Drive collecting canned food for the Fort Wayne Food Bank.
