The 10th annual Soctoberfest will ‘kick off’ on Friday evening, October 2nd with a 6v6 tournament with play beginning at 6:00 p.m. in both ‘Open’ and ‘Competitive’ brackets. Teams can register at the Clubhouse on Mondays and Wednesdays during Adult Recreational soccer. Contact Adult Recreational Soccer Director Chris Csicsko at csiscko or 260-403-6147 for more information. We are asking teams to register early in order to set brackets and start play right at 6:00 p.m.

The 6v6 tournament entry fee is $60 per team with each team being guaranteed at least three 25 minute games. The 6v6 tournament team entry form can be found on the Fort Wayne Sport Club Web Site: . There will be prizes for the winning teams and lots fun for all. Please come to enjoy the soccer, food and fun. The 6v6 tournament will use a small-sided pitch with small-sided goals. Six players are allowed on the pitch but games will be played with no goalies. There will be no offside nor slide tackling. The first rounds will be round-robin format with the winning teams moving on to the final rounds. Entertainment and refreshments will continue in the Club House following the tournament.

On Saturday, the fun continues with a TOPSoccer exhibition game at 1:00 p.m. and then the Veteran’s Game starts at 4:00 p.m. The evening will bring our 4th annual Fall Craft Beer Tasting. Because this is our 10th anniversary of our Soctoberfest, we will be selling ½ liter glass boots emblazoned with the Fort Wayne Sport Club logo. The cost will be one boot for $15 or a pair for $25. This was a limited purchase, so buy yours before they’re all gone.

Please plan on attending to watch the Sport Club teams compete as well as enjoying some food and German beer. Volunteers are always needed and appreciated.

The Fort Wayne Sport Club was founded in 1927 by an active group of soccer players who immigrated to the Fort Wayne area from Germany in the aftermath of World War I. Their immediate goal was ‘the promotion of football (soccer) and German culture’ in the Northeast Indiana area. Today, the Fort Wayne Sport Club is a hub of soccer activity, with programs for recreational and competitive soccer players from age 4-years to 30-and-over. “We are extremely proud of our long history and heritage of encouraging participation in soccer at all levels throughout the area,” stated Dan Kruse, President of Fort Wayne Sport Club.
