USF QB Ferrer Naja Off. Player Of The Week

University of Saint Francis quarterback Nick Ferrer has been selected NAIA National Offensive Player of the Week after throwing five touchdown passes and 434 yards at Taylor University on Sat., Sept. 12.

Ferrer (Westfield, IN / Westfield H.S.) led the Cougars to a 48-42 win connecting on 77 percent of his passes (24-for-31) and scores of 36, 58, 8, 5, and 31 yards. In just his fifth career start, the sophomore threw for the most yards in a single USF game since Jeremy Hibbeln connected for 538 yards against Lambuth on Nov. 18, 2000 in the first NAIA Football Championship Series game played at USF. It was the second consecutive game Ferrer has throw for five TDs.

The 6-foot-5 Ferrer connected on 20-of-24 passes (.833 completion pct.) in the first half for 375 yards and four TDs. He is the 15th different USF player to earn the NAIA Player-of-the-Week Award, the first since QB Josh Miller did it in 2013. This is the 18th time in 18 seasons a USF player has won the national award and it is the fifth time a USF QB has been selected.

Ferrer was named Mid-States Football Association Mideast League Offensive Player of the Week earlier on Monday.
