The Huntington University Front Line Forester program began in 2012 as a way to represent the student body to alumni, family and friends of the institution. With the success of the program in the past three years, the university has hired 12 student ambassadors to continue the mission into the 2015-2016 school year.

Those students are junior Luke Bates, a biology pre-med major from Willshire, Ohio; junior Samantha Bruns, a social work major from Fort Wayne, Indiana; junior Edwin Chow, a missions, Bible and religious biblical studies and youth ministry triple major from Campbell, California; junior Michael Deter, a missions major from Bluffton, Ohio; senior Bronwen Fetters, an English writing and English literature double major from Huntington, Indiana; junior Zach Herber, a psychology major from Fort Wayne, Indiana; senior Amy Hetrick, a business management and marketing double major from Fort Wayne, Indiana; junior Christiana Hicks, a psychology major from Fort Wayne, Indiana; junior Olivia Knispel, a biology pre-med major from Churubusco, Indiana; senior Lucas Lengacher, a psychology major from Leo, Indiana; junior Max Troyer, a psychology major from Angola, Indiana; and senior Krista Wood, a nursing major from Waterville, Ohio.

The students will serve by hosting HU Foundation breakfasts, participating in prayer ministry luncheons, hosting Homecoming & Family Weekend events, welcoming the Board of Trustees to meetings, and showing appreciation to donors with thank you calls and letters.

“HU’s Front Line Foresters are a talented group of people who represent our student body in expressing gratitude to our generous financial partners,” said Vincent Haupert, vice president for advancement. “I truly appreciate how they energize our advancement efforts.”

The goal is to have these Front Line Foresters grow in character through interactions with various professionals as they fulfill their duties as student ambassadors. They will develop leadership skills, gratitude and interpersonal skills as well as gain a basic knowledge of philanthropy and the workings of the Advancement Office at the university.
