ABOUT LAST NIGHT: A night after their franchise record-tying 10-game winning streak came to an end, the TinCaps got back in the win column on Friday with a 6-2 victory at South Bend.

STREAKING: The TinCaps have won 7 series in a row, including 3 straight on the road. Since July 28, Fort Wayne boasts a 19-3 record.

ROSTER MOVE: On Friday, the Padres added left-handed reliever Griffin Russell to the TinCaps’ roster. Russell, 21, arrived from Short-Season A Tri-City, where he was 2-2 with a 3.86 ERA over 14 appearances (25.2 IP). Russell, who was selected by San Diego in the 28th round of the 2012 Draft out of high school in Texas, pitched 2.1 scoreless innings for the TinCaps on May 23 at Lansing.

ALUMNI REPORT: Two recent TinCaps made their MLB debuts Friday night. In San Diego, Padres outfielder Travis Jankowski, who played for Fort Wayne in 2012, went 2-for-4 with an RBI. In Washington, Trea Turner, the TinCaps’ shortstop for the second half of 2014, was 0-for-2 breaking in with the Nationals. The number of Fort Wayne Wizards and TinCaps who’ve gone on to the big leagues is now 140.

ON THIS DAY IN TINCAPS HISTORY: A year ago today, Trea Turner led off a game at Lake County with a home run. Turner hit .369 / .447 / .529 across 46 regular season games with Fort Wayne in 2014. Turner hit 4 HR and drove in 22.
