A Record Breaking Weigand Construction’s 27th Annual Duck Race To Benefit SCAN

More than 18,200 plastic duckies are waiting for race day where winners compete for a chance to win $1 million*, plus 27 other quacktastic prizes in the 27th Annual Weigand Construction Duck Race to Benefit SCAN (Stop Child Abuse and Neglect). Tomorrow’s event will take place on the St. Joseph River at Johnny Appleseed Park Boat Ramp between 10:30 and 11 a.m.

This year’s race is the highest grossing race to date, and has raised a record breaking $186,159. Ducks are still available before the race at the Boat Ramp. A “race viewing” space for spectators will be created near the river bank to ensure the public can view the race at a safe distance. However, children’s activities which generally take place prior to the race have been cancelled. Please note, due to the unknown conditions of the river on Saturday, a specific race time cannot be given; the race will occur when the river team determines conditions to be right, between 10:30 and 11 am.

This year’s event was previously scheduled for June 20. The financial goal for this event was met before the event was rescheduled due to area flooding and unsafe river conditions. This year was the first in the race’s history that the race has been rescheduled. Proceeds for the Duck Race ensure SCAN can continue to provide life-changing services that protect children, prepare parents, strengthen families, and educate our community to Stop Child Abuse and Neglect. Sponsoring a duck means you are helping us achieve you mission and helping keep children safe!

SCAN will announce the winners following the race and race results will be available online at www.scanfw.org/duckrace.html
