Kickball Tournament Rescheduled

After a rainout, the 4th annual Fort Wayne Sport Club Charity Kickball Tournament will now take place at Indian Trails Park, 10305 Aboite Center Rd (next the Jorgenson Family YMCA) in Fort Wayne starting at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, August 15th. The proceeds from the fundraiser will benefit Turnstone and TOPSoccer. “I know that the weather has not cooperated at all this year,” stated Dave Bennett, Director of Competitive Sports with the Fort Wayne Sport Club. “But we are confident that August 15th will be a beautiful day ripe for kickball! We will still move the tourney to Indian Trails Park due to the flooding destruction at Fort Wayne Sport Club.”

The severe weather that northeast Indiana has been experiencing will only deter tournament participants once from taking a step back to the playground of their childhood and playing some kickball. The fun will now go on – only a month and one half later! Visit the Sport Club website: for the most up-to-date details on the event.

The Fort Wayne Sport Club is partnering with the Fort Wayne Sport & Social Club ( ) this year in an effort to enhance the tournament and create a more ‘festival-like’ atmosphere for the event. New elements are planned for the participants including free dodgeball games starting around noon for anyone. There will be no team required. There will also be a long kick contest going throughout the day with a men’s, women’s and an under-12 winner.

Petal City food truck will be on hand along with special deals from Pizza Hut.

New in 2015 will be the Thursday evening captain’s meeting & celebration at Buffalo Wings & Ribs, 6439 W Jefferson Blvd in Fort Wayne ( ). Buffalo Wings & Ribs is also the Scoreboard Sponsor this year, joining Field Sponsors: Adams Radio Group; Crossfit Praus; Fort Wayne Sport & Social Club; Mad Apple Crossfit; PHD, Inc. and Travel Leaders in generously supporting the event.

Turnstone’s mission is to provide therapeutic, educational, wellness and recreational programs to empower people with disabilities. As the only not-for-profit organization within northeast Indiana that provides a full range of rehabilitative, educational, wellness, athletic and recreational programs and facilities to persons with physical disabilities and their families, Turnstone is creating possibilities.

TOPSoccer is The Outreach Program for Soccer from US Youth Soccer. It is specifically designed to allow children with special needs to participate in sport of soccer. The Fort Wayne Sport Club was founded in 1927 by an active group of soccer players who immigrated to the Fort Wayne area from Germany in the aftermath of World War I. Their immediate goal was ‘the promotion of football (soccer) and German culture’ in the Northeast Indiana area. Today, the Fort Wayne Sport Club is a hub of soccer activity, with programs for recreational and competitive soccer players from age 4-years to 30-and-over. The German culture is celebrated in the many social events enjoyed by club members. “We are extremely proud of our long history and heritage of encouraging participation in soccer at all levels throughout the Fort Wayne area,” remarked Fort Wayne Sport Club President Dan Kruse.
