Bishop Luers High School of Fort Wayne Announces $4,000,000 Faith in Our Future Capital Campaign

Bishop Luers High School, one of Fort Wayne’s private, Catholic, high schools, has launched a $4 million capital campaign, called “Faith in Our Future.”

In 2005 Bishop Luers High School successfully raised over $3.1 million to fund many necessary projects for Phase I of the Faith in Our Future campaign. Phase II of this campaign will build a new Chapel, a new performing arts assembly hall, media center, and complete improvements to the school infrastructure.

· Chapel of St. Francis“Our current chapel does not meet our needs. It is too small and does not promote Bishop Luers as a Christian community. Moving the chapel from a small former classroom to the front of the school will put our Catholic identity front and center. Increasing the seating in the Chapel from 45 to 180 will give our students more opportunities to practice their faith.”

· Performing Arts Assembly Hall“We lack large meeting spaces for enrichment activities (e.g. showchoir, dance, cheerleading, plays, etc). For example, many of our clubs have meetings in the hallways because of high pupil demand and the subsequent lack of space. This new 4,000 sq. ft. addition to the cafeteria will help address this challenge.”

· 21st Century Media Center & Library“Our current media center is outdated and not technologically equipped for the next generation. The new media center will be the hub for student activity at our school. This flexible space will accommodate our reference materials and include video technology that encourages communication and collaboration with classrooms around the world. This space will also provide a venue for our students to hone their presentation skills. The updated technology in the media center will help us keep pace with changing technology and properly prepare our students for college and the workforce.”

· Complete Energy Efficient Façade Renovation“Many of the rooms in our building are cold and drafty and we spend unnecessary money keeping them warm. Replacing our single pane windows will decrease our long term heating and cooling expenses.”

Bishop Luers High School is proud and elated to announce that Phase II of the Faith in Our Future campaign has already secured $2.7 million in pledges towards its $4,000,000 need. Led by Campaign Co-Chairs Jerry & Becky Henry the campaign is poised for success as it enters its home stretch.
